Classic Car Storage Facility underway

January 2020

Pad foundations complete with steel frame due to commence next week on our new Liphook project in the UK. Great to have a pan-Channel Island Consultant team on board – Barnes Collie Fischer (Architects, JSY), CBL (Engineers, GSY) and Ennis Consulting (M&E, JSY). This Classic Car storage facility is due for completion Q4 2019.

New Luxury Homes – Willow Grange Phase II

Foundations have been cast at the 3rd unit at our Willow Grange project, under clear blue Guernsey skies….. new luxury homes will be on the market in time for Q3 2020.

Works underway in Prison on New CLIP Unit

February 2019

HVC have struck ground within Guernsey Prison and commenced construction of a new CLIP (Creative Learning in Prison) Unit. The works, being undertaken within the prison grounds, which include piling, foundations, drainage and new hardstandings will be completed by April 2019.

HVC hit the High Street – Refurbishment for JD Sports plc

October 2018

HVC are pleased to be working for JD Sports plc on the refurbishment of 29-31 King Street in Jersey. The works which involve works to the retail unit, Blacks, 3 apartments, offices and store rooms are due for completion in January 2019.

HVC awarded long term Contract by the Jersey Electricity Company (JEC)

October 2018

Following an extensive tender process HVC have been awarded the measured term Contract for Substation construction works. The Contract, which commences in August 2018 will run for a period of 3 years and involves working on Jersey Electricity’s 880 Sub-Stations and Switchrooms.

HVC secure refurbishment project at the State’s Tax & Social Security Office

October 2018

HVC have secured a Contract to refurbish elements of the Tax and Social Security Office for the States of Guernsey. The works, to Edward T Wheadon House,  are due to be completed in May 2019 involve refurbishment works and some structural alterations to facilitate new lift installations. HVC will work closely with States Property Services to deliver this project.

Back to school… HVC commence fast track refurbishment at La Mare de Carteret High School

HVC are delighted to have been awarded the Contract to undertake the refurbishment of 7 classrooms at LMDC High School for the States of Guernsey. Paul Clifton, HVC’s Senior Site Manager, commented ‘we are delighted to be involved in this challenging project which will undoubtedly enhance the learning environment for the students.’ The works are due for completion before the commencement of the new 2018/19 school year.

HVC commence Fairbairn House Office Refurbishment

March 2018

Works are well under way at Fairbairn House in St Peter Port, where HVC are undertaking refurbishment works. Works, which include significant services upgrades, are due to be complete by the end of June 2018.  HVC are pleased to be working with Currie & Brown and Ennis M&E Consultants on this project.

Considerate Constructors Scheme: HVC sign up

HVC have enrolled on and are very pleased to support the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). The CCS is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image. Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements. Further information on the Code can be found by following this link .

HVC finalists in Engineering Project of the Year at the Guernsey Construction Awards

HVC have made the final cut and have been named as finalists in the Guernsey Construction Awards in the Engineering Project of the Year category for the works undertaken at Stanlow, Ellesmere Port.

HVC United: HVC to Refurbish external facades at the United Club

September 2017

HVC will imminently commence works at the United Club in Guernsey undertaking external fenestration and decoration works. The building, which is in excess of 500 years old, will be refurbished in a period of 8 weeks and works will include a full decoration and the replacement of external bay windows under cover of  a fully enclosed scaffold.

HVC secure New Clinical Waste Incinerator project in Jersey

June 2017

HVC have secured the Contract to construct a new £2M Clinical Waste Incinerator in Jersey. Project Manager Stephan Droguet-Audineau advised ‘We are extremely pleased to have secured this Contract and are looking forward to delivering a first class building to our Employer’. The project, which is being built for the States of Jersey Department for Infrastructure, commenced in July 2017 and will be handed over in March 2018.

HVC achieve ISO 9001 status

June 2017
Following stringent assessment HVC have been granted ISO 9001:2015 status.
Katrina Quate, HVC Office Manager, advised ‘it was hard work in acheiving this status and we welcome the challenge of maintaining this year on year.’.

HVC win Contract to refurbish St Peter Port Ferry Terminus facilities

June 2017

HVC commence works on the Ferry Terminus refurbishment Project in July 2017 and are working to a fast track 10 week programme. Project Manager, Shaun Sale commented, ‘whilst the high volume of incoming and outgoing ferries and their passengers will ensure that the works are challenging we are confident we will deliver’.

Stanlow Phase II & III Works Complete and in operation

June 2017

HVC’s scope of works at Stanlow Phase II & Phase III are now complete and the plants have been handed over to our Employer. Spectacular progress was achieved on Phase II where over £35M of construction works were overseen in a little over 12 months culminating in the handover of a new 75,000T per annum Bio-Diesel production facility to Argent Energy. Phase III entailed the construction of a new Tank Farm and Biomass Building for Argent Oil Terminal.

Further work secured at Stanlow – Tanker Park and Tanker Washing Facilities

HVC has secured further works in the North West of England and will shortly commence the construction of a new Tanker Park at Argent Oil Terminal which will include the provision of new welfare and tanker wash down facilities.

Willow Grange Redevelopment to create 3 new homes

June 2017

HVC has secured a new development site in Guernsey and will shortly commence on creating 3 new homes. Further news will be available soon on this exciting new development which will entail a 2, 3 and 4 Bedroom House. Works will commence in Q3 2017 and be complete by the end of 2018. Mark Farey commented for HVC ‘We are excited by the potential of this development and hope that the 4 bedroom house will be a spectacular addition to the portfolio of homes that we have built’.

Jersey HQ for HVC

The Havard C & D Group of companies, of which HVC are part, have purchased and developed their own spacious Headquarters, Havard House, in St Helier, Jersey. The office, from which Building Renovations (BR) (www.br.je), Tower Shopfitting & Construction (www.tower.je) and BR Plumbing & Heating (www.brph.je) operate, will also provide a Jersey base for HVC. HVC commence works on Beaucamp Militia Hall project

March 2017

HVC has commenced works on the Beaucamp Militia Hall refurbishment project at Beaucamp School, Castel. The works, which include drainage works, facade enhancements and some internal alterations, are due to be completed in a challenging timeline and the building will be handed back to our Employer (States of Guernsey Property Services) by the middle of June 2017.

HVC support GBTEA Passport to Safety Scheme

March 2017
HVC support the Passport to Safety scheme run by the GBTEA which allows employers in the building related trades to demonstrate that their staff have a basic understanding of construction site Health & Safety requirements. All of HVC’s staff have enrolled on the scheme and in due course this will become the mininum requirement for entry onto site

HVC support of long term local unemployed recognised in the Press

December 2016
HVC’s support of the States of Guernsey scheme to assist long term unemployed has been recognised within an article within the Guernsey Press. HVC have given opportunities to over 20 individuals from the State’s CEPS scheme since its inception (Community & Environmental Project Scheme) and currently employ staff engaged via the scheme ranging from a trainee Quantity Surveyor to a trainee Tradesmen.

HVC secure Biomass Project

November 2016

HVC have secured the Contract to undertake the Civil Engineering and Steel Frame and Cladding works on a Biomass Plant for AOT Limited. Works commence in January 2017 and will be completed in a very challenging programme by July 2017.

HVC commence work on new Civil Engineering Contract

HVC have commenced works on a new £2M Oil Tank Farm Construction project following on from our involvement on Stanlow Phase II. The works, which involve significant concrete works, commenced on 3rd October 2016 with handover to our Employer to be made in 3 Phases. The foundations are piled and that activity (see left) is well underway.

New Mental Health Centre wins prestigious Design Awards

HVC offer congratulations to IBI Group and HSSD for their recent well deserved success in the 2016 Design in Mental Health Awards. Success was acheived in the ‘Project of the Year’ and ‘Collaborative Estates and Facilities Team’ awards categories. Legendary boxer Frank Bruno was on hand to present the awards. Divette Ward handed over ahead of schedule

The Divette Ward works at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital were handed back to the Client ahead of schedule to facilitate occupation of the new ‘Orchard Centre’ as planned from 23rd May 2016.

Divette Ward Refurbishment

Works have started on HVC’s Divette Ward refurbishment project at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. This fast-track project involves the complete upgrade of the Divette Ward and must be completed for the States of Guernsey HSSD within 10 weeks.

Works commence on new £30M Bio-Diesel Plant

January 2016

Works have commenced on our new Bio-Diesel Plant project in Stanlow, Cheshire. Extensive areas of piled foundations are currently being driven into place. Further extensive concrete slab works are forecast for February 2016 in anticipation of the Client’s technology provider commencing works in the Spring.

HVC appointed to provide EPCM services on new Bio-Diesel Plant (Stanlow Phase II)

HVC have been appointed to provide EPCM (Engineering Procurement and Construction Management) services on a new £30M Bio-Diesel. HVC will be working closely with Addison Project plc who are providing specialist expertise in relation to the project. Works commenced on site in January with completion forecast for December 2016

Completed Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre – In Pictures

The new £24M Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre, constructed by HVC for the States of Guernsey Department for Health, was officially opened on 30th October 2015. HVC to supply construction services on £30M Biodiesel plant project.

March 2015

HVC are to provide construction services including commercial management and site inspection duties on the construction of a new pre-production facility in Stanlow, North West England. The Contract is expected to be around 14 months in duration with handover anticipated Q2 2016.

New Mental Health Unit – Update

Work is progressing well on the new Mental Health Unit. Decoration has commenced in advance of the final fit out and commissioning. The 3D animation below gives an indication of the scale and quality of the finished building.

HVC celebrate 10 years of building in Guernsey

HVC were formed in Guernsey in 2004 and we have consequently established ourselves as one of the island’s biggest Main Contractors. We are extremely proud to have expertly delivered a eclectic range of projects that include the Guernsey Press Headquarters, the CFE centre for performing arts, the replacement Slaughterhouse and the New Clinical Block at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

HVC secure contract to build new homes on the former site of the Hotel Trinco

January 2014

HVC have secured the Contract to design and construct 4 new dwellings on the site of the former Trinco Hotel on Collings Road. Work commences on the £2M development early in 2014 with the properties due for completion in Q4 2014. Mark Farey of HVC commented “We are very pleased to have secured this Contract and look forward to working with Mark Frampton (Architect) and delivering this project successfully. The new homes will be an impressive addition to the local community.”

Mental Health Unit update in the Guernsey Press

January 2014

The new Mental Health centre at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital is starting to take shape and was subject to a report in the Guernsey Press on 6th January 2014. The recent very strong winds and inclement weather have hampered progress slightly but the project is still progressing well. To date the works have been undertaken utilising predominantly local labour and suppliers.

Sean the Apprentice: You’re Hired

September 2013

Sean Carrington, who has just joined HVC following a successful placement from the State’s ‘Get Into’ Course, has commenced his college course in ‘trowel vocations’ (brick and block laying and plastering). Combining day release with on the job experience Sean will become a fully qualified tradesman within 5 years. As an acknowledgment of Sean’s progress he was presented with his first trowel and spirit level which we hope will be used for many years to come.
